Cool Legendary Defender of Ascalon

So this has been brought up a few times though I never read threads often, so heres my Idea so active characters before the LDoA was added can be played out to fit the game lore and make it a viable gold sink+ nothing better to do title

NPC Location: Ascalon City
NPC name Idea: Rinus, Seer of Truth
Dialog:

"I am Rinus the Seer of truth if you wish to unlock events of the past occuring within the walls of ascalon I can delv within you memories and help you. Though I am not a charity giver there is a price for my services."
[Pay Rinus 1 platinum to Visit Ascalon (3 years ago)](thats right isnt it? 3 years?)
[Nevermind you old fool! How could you help me?]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Upon entry to Pre searing ascalon your first time
Factions/Nightfall character Movie
Leaving boat at Lions Arch....
NPC: Greetings Traveler. Welcome to lions Arch Im affraid its been quiet chaotic these dayslots of undead, madness really though why are you here dont you have other places to be than tyria? I hear its not to peaceful in other parts of the world.
[Player character]: Nay, I am exploring the world and wish to visit ascalon, do you know of any caravans heading there?
[NPC]: Aye traveler, there will be one going there soon if you talk to a white mantle they shall help you.
[Player]: Much thanks
(Enter next scene)
Rurik comes to the front of Ascalon city.
[Rurik]: Ahai there krytans! We have been expecting you.
[NPC Leading Caravan]: Aye Rurik of Ascalon we fear for the sake of our families and children. Fear not Prince we have not brought a burden upon you without some thanks. We bring teachings of magic, and other skills of weponry and also those learning under diffrent teachers of the Canthan and Elonian specialties, perhaps they can help defend ascalon with for you Prince.
[Rurik]: Aye, many thanks [NPC] The Charr have become more a nuisense lately.
[NPC]; Very well I will camp here for the night and be gone by morning]
More can be added by the devs who acctually know the lore by heart properly, as Im just guessing off my own knowledge not too sure of the real events in the time period
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Assuming the devs want you out when your lvl 20 for good, I have also thought of this so it ties with itself since most NF, F characters start at lvl 1, its not so much HOW POWERFUL they are but more or less how skilled they are so in my beleif a little amnesia would do the trick to make it feel like it ties in

really short version

Attack-On ascalon
In the confusion [Your character] is then knocked on the head by a rock or somthing very bloody no real brain damage on the very same caravan with rurik and original prof characters to kryta, the NPC at the start finds you he knows where you are from and sends you on the next ship to cantha/elona You then awake in the Shing Jea monstary/ Kamadan and are then teleported back to Ascalon the same way you were when you left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This isnt an argument we should have it I just thought if they wanted to give us a chance at it this would be the way it could play as a gold sink (srysly whos gonna stay in ascalon till theyr lvl 20 with their main char?) and its not like its a super easy title to get(harder than survivor imo)
I'm not sure what exactly your suggestion is, except to turn LDoA into some kind of title where you pay a fee and pretty much get it. Bad fix.
I still feel obligated to comment on the LDoA title. It needs fixed, or it needs removed, because the way it works now is stupid, and it jeopardizes any proposed changes to the Survivor title.
Ah right I forgot to add
When enetering the memory, obviously you would start out with no money lvl1, and like a fresh character with nothing, you enter in do the normal quests you would in pre. Pretend its like a console game on one save fil you have your file pimped out beat the the game got everything already, on another it has nothing infact it isnt even started yet. Sorry
What would be the point of putting this into the game...there simply wouldn't be one.
I have a better idea...
Make a new character in Proph that is the evil bully twin of your main character. Then go pursue the dumbest title in the game.
If you really miss little Gwen that much, I can sell you a mini Gwen, and you can go pretend to find her flute in Sacnoth Valley.
There are a number of titles that could do with a revamp....survivor is one, and LDoA is another. I like your idea of making this title a reward for an extended mini-mission, but unfortunately I can't see the one or two people left to keep GW1 running having the time to do it. Any improvement to LDoA would be welcome ("wow, you defended ascalon so bravely by just standing there and letting charr kill you thousands of times?"), but I don't think this'll be it. Best thing to do is probably remove the title altogether...
Each main campaign has one basic tutorial area that is visited before getting to the secondary training area. These areas are:
- Pre-Searing in Prophecies.
- Linnok Courtyard in Factions.
- Island of Shehkah in Nightfall.
Once you leave them, you can't go back there, EVER AGAIN.
For Factions is already half done. You can explore the part of the map of the area, but you cannot visit the area itself. That's probably because the area works like a Mission, and starts it cinematic any time that is visited.
Same for Nightfall's.
To fix that, a 'copy' without the cinematic could be made for those two. Its only purpose would be exploration anytime.
In the case of pre-Searing, which is not explored, one of the two following things could be done:
1. A 'copy' version of pre-Searing could be made, where lvl 20 character could enter after finishing the campaign. In this copy, the ones 'going back' will not interact with new characters. Monsters would have +20 levels too, so the levels of monsters in this copy would be 20..30 instead of 0..10.
The main purpose of this would be to be able to go back with your favourite character to your favourite area.
This has the advantage of being able to bring outside items and skills normally and being more fun, being a 'hard mode' version of pre-Searing. But the disvantage of not being able to get LDoA.
2. A 'copy' version of your character could be made, and it could enter pre-Searing as a level 1 character.
This character would be under a 'disguise of time'(something like the Travel to the North effect) and, like the characters in the Bonus Mission Pack, it would have a fixed set of skills. In this case, the skills would depend on primary and secondary professions and could be changed in outposts probably 6..8 skills for primary, 6..8 for secondary and the Resurrection Signet.
Picking items assigned to you and items that are already there (like Red Iris flowers or quest items) would be possible, but not items dropped by other players or that were assigned to other characters before becoming available to all. Selling to merchants would be possible, but not trading or dropping items.
Models under the disguise of time would look like equipped with a tutorial or training armor (Ascalon, Shing Jea, Istani if the armor is normal and Krytan, Canthan, Elonian if the character was equiped with a Prestige set before going back there).
The level of armor would also depend on level of characters, never going over the maximum that can be achieved in pre-Searing.
This option has the advantage of being able to go back there at level 1, level up, taming with the native characters, not being able to bring powerful or PvE skills, not being able to pick of bring skills and not disrupting the 'feel' of pre-Searing, with the exception of foreign classes.
For Prophecies characters, this would be made for nolstalgia and making the quests you missed when you left. And even to retry LDoA if you go back there at level 1.
For all characters, this would be good to join with friends and help them without making new characters there, to get there with foreign characters (we know that there were Assassins back then in Ascalon, thanks to Anton)
For both cases, the way to go back there would be talking to Symon the Scribe, and the way to exit pre-Searing again would be by talking to Sir Tydus.
IT's definitely something that would be thanked by many players... but, of course, something to be almost at the end of the To-Do list.
Eh, with the Hall becoming account wide for titles, the only reason really to do this would be to get GWAMM without buying titles, or get ldoa and survivor on the same toon. I was annoyed by this, but I started a new char and am at this very moment death leveling charr for ldoa. I'll never have the title on my main but at least it'll be in the hall and I'll get it for gw2. Really, the time you spent thinking this up and putting it on here, you could have a good head start on ldoa already.
EASILY the most retarded suggestion ever.
If you so desperately want LDOA on your non-Tyrian characters, here's what I propose:
Turn off the computer and go outside. Stop getting your panties in a twist over a video game. Stop bitching about how unfair the title is and how much it hurts your e-ego that you can't have it. This is a VIDEO GAME. Treat it as such.
IMO, it should be done like this: all characters made before titles existed need to get 100% Explorer of Tyria, Protecter Of tyria, Guardian Of Tyria, and then get Survivor maxed in Tyria. Even then, that idea sucks. LDOA isn't really that much needed of a title, as there are 35+ titles in the game, of which only 30 are needed to be maxed out.
Actually it's Monastery Overlook, and you can get back to it
When the hell did I say "OMG I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET LDOA PLZPL PLZPL PLZ ANET PLZ"
Its just a thought of if they put it in how they would add it in.
If you dont like it say so but GTFO with the flaming.
AND if you dont have a reason it shouldnt be there put up a debate shut up if you have nothing to back yourself up.
Stupid title should be removed with the rest of the stupid titles. Which is to say, all of them.
From a Roll-playing POV: Legendary Defender of Ascalon, as it is now, is a title that every other character knows the character achieved. If it were put in as "Dream sequence" kind of thing, the character doing it this way would merely be a legend in his/her own mind.
From my personal POV: There are plenty of other titles out there to go around to get GWAMM.
I don't believe that the arguement that it would be a good money sink (at 1,000g per travelling "back to pre", assuming you would be able to do that with your main character), is valid. The treasure hunter title is a much better gold sink.
To Illustrate: Assuming you get a 50% average lockpick retention rate, and you have access to 1,200g picks, it would cost 6,000 platinum to max it. Also assuming that you get 50% of your investment back from drops, it would take 3,000 trips back to pre for a character to "sink" as much gold as the Treasure Hunter title.
It can also take much less TIME to work on the Treasure hunter title, if you know where to chest run. I've been able to open 35 chests per hour while chest running. At only 30 chests per hour, it would take 333 hours & 20 minutes to max it. Most LDoA title guides I've read say it takes 600-700 hours to complete.
